Beginning as a challenge from Past President of the Fraternity Robert Mervos (ΑΦ, ’67) at the National Convention in 2015, the Crow Coach program was designed to assist every Chapter and Colony with trained volunteers in recruitment, finances, and Chapter operations. With our national partnership with Phired Up Productions, 16 coaches have been selected to assist our groups this year. Read below to learn about them!

JOSEPH DIMAURO, ΑΦΒ ‘15

Born and raised in Cleveland Ohio, Joe graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a degree in Criminal Justice and a minor in Forensic Populations. He started his career with Developers Diversified Realty, as a Corporate Security Analyst.

While attending the University of Cincinnati, Joe held the roles of Philanthropy Chair, Vice President, and President of the Alpha Phi Beta Chapter.  As an active member, Joe believes that being part of Alpha Chi Rho has changed his life. In addition to the Brotherhood that comes with fraternity life, Joe says that diversification is what sets Alpha Chi Rho apart from other organizations, referring to the fourth Landmark.  The acceptance of all races, creeds and nationalities played a big part in why he joined. Joe looks forward to sharing his love of the Brotherhood with future generations.

 

JOHN DISARRO, ΦΖΧ ‘07

John is the Director of Fraternity and Sorority Affairs at the University of Rochester. He is a member of Alpha Chi Rho from SUNY Geneseo with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, a Master of Science degree in Higher Education Administration and is currently enrolled in a Doctoral program for higher education. Currently he serves as the Conference Chair for the Northeastern Greek Leadership Association, planning an annual fraternity and sorority conference for approximately 1,000 students, alumni, and advisors in the Northeast.  He is a regular facilitator for the Undergraduate Interfraternity Institute, has served on the Educational Programming Committee for the Association of Fraternity/Sorority Advisors, has served on the editorial board for HazingPrevention.org, and won an award for publishing an article on restorative justice in fraternities and sororities.

John served the Phi Zeta Chi Chapter as Brother at Large, Scholarship Chair, and IFC Representative.  He loves that he is lifelong friends with Brothers he never would have spoken with if it wasn’t for Alpha Chi Rho. He says the common fraternal bond teaches us to value each other as people despite our different worldviews.  John believes in the passion and ingenuity of our brothers, and is excited to do what he can to kick things up to the next level!  John enjoys skiing, adult kickball leagues, trivia competitions, Escape Rooms, rooting for Philadelphia sports teams, and being really tall.

 

TIMOTHY FAIRFIELD, ΑΧΦ ‘94

Tim is originally from Erie Pennsylvania and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in specialized studies from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania in 1994.  He spent 10 years as a restaurant manager during which he returned to school to obtain a Bachelor of Science degree in secondary education integrated social studies at Youngstown State University in Ohio.  He received that degree in 2004. Tim began his teaching career in Akron, Ohio working with at-risk youth in a dropout prevention charter school.  Tim sought a career based intervention endorsement to his teaching credential from the Ohio State University while working as a career based intervention program coordinator for Mahoning County Career and Technical Center at West Branch HS/MS.  He obtained his Masters of Science degree in Educational Administration and was hired as an assistant high school principal.  In 2015, Tim was named to his current position as High School Principal at Bristol high School in Bristolville Ohio.  He is currently working towards his superintendent’s license at Youngstown State University.

While at Edinboro Fairfield served as the Vice President of the Alpha Chi Phi Chapter of Alpha Chi Rho.  He was drawn to the fraternity by the comradery that was displayed by the Brothers residing in his freshman residence hall.  He assisted on various committees and was also named a sweetheart of the Alpha Sigma Tau Sorority.  The thing he loved most about Alpha Chi Rho was the bond formed with the group of Brothers both at Edinboro and at other campuses.  Tim and his wife of 17 years, Theresa, reside in Girard, Ohio with their 3 children; Jacob (15), Colin (13), and Brooklyn (7) and their dog Emma.  He also volunteers as a coach for a youth soccer team in Girard Ohio.

 

ROBERT FOOSE, ΤΧΦ ‘06

Robert was born, raised, and currently lives in Phillipsburg, NJ.  After graduating from high school he attended Monmouth University where he joined the Tau Chi Phi chapter and acted as their Historian, Homecoming chair, and Ritual Officer. After earning his Bachelors in business marketing and management, Robert started his professional career at the national office where he was a Leadership Consultant from 2007 to 2009.

He is currently a Senior Business Process & Reporting Analyst for the Facilities and Operations department at Columbia University.  His love for Alpha Chi Rho stems from our core values. That we measure a man’s worth based on their character, who they choose to be, and not what they are.  He is ready and grateful to give back to the brotherhood which has already given so much to him.

 

PIETER GRUNDVIG, ΗΧΦ ‘06

Pieter received his Bachelor of Science degree in Architecture, with a concentration in Construction Management from the New York Institute of Technology (NYIT).  He also holds a Master of Science degree in Construction Management and works as a project manager in the construction industry in Tampa Florida.

As an undergraduate at NYIT, he served the Eta Chi Phi Chapter as Philanthropy Chair, Secretary, Postulant Educator and Vice President.  Pieter says with every Brother he meets there is always an extended hand to offer help. His motivation as a Crow Coach is to pass along his knowledge, experiences and ability to serve.

 

MATT HANNAFORD, ΣΧΦ ‘06

Matt received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and a Master of Science degree in Sport Management studies from California University of Pennsylvania. He currently is the Vice President of LifeFlip Media, a PR firm focused on veteran owned companies, and lives in his hometown of Harrisburg, Pa., with his wife, Erin, and daughter, Isabella.

As an undergraduate, Hannaford was elected president of the Sigma Chi Phi chapter, played baseball for Cal U, and was the founder of the lacrosse club and the club’s first president. He is excited to be working with the National office as a Crow Coach because he believes that many Chapters need additional support and mentorship, and this will give him the opportunity to share his leadership expertise with local Chapters.

 

ANDREW HERBACH, ΗΧΦ ‘10

Andrew was born in Staten Island, New York, and currently resides in Central New Jersey.  He attended New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) and holds degrees in Criminal Justice, Psychology, and Sociology.  Andrew is currently working on a graduate degree in Criminology while working full-time for Shred-It as a Customer Service Representative. His goal is to work for a police department.

Andrew held the position of Social Chair, Recruitment Chair, Secretary and Alumni Relations chair for the Eta Chi Phi Chapter. During his time at NYIT, he was the Secretary on the Greek Letter Council, and a part of the Campus Programming Board.  This past winter, he was instrumental in forming the first ever Eta Chi Phi Graduate Chapter.  Alpha Chi Rho has given him so much in the past 10 years, and he credits the Brotherhood for helping him become the man he is today.

An Eagle Scout, a 4th Degree Black Belt in Goju Ryu, 2nd Degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Doand a certified Scuba Diver; Andrew is a motivated individual and excited to help GROW CROW.

 

ANTHONY MAZZIOTTI, ΙΧΦ ‘16

Anthony graduated from Rowan University with a Bachelor’s degree in English and a minor in Education.  Anthony works in the business development department of a home mortgage company in Mount Laurel, New Jersey in recruitment and social media marketing. He lives with his parents in Glendora, New Jersey.

Anthony served his Chapter as the Brother at Large, Chaplain, Ritual Officer and Homecoming chair (twice, taking his Chapter to second place both years).  Anthony met his now girlfriend, Samantha, a Rowan Alpha Sigma Alpha, during Homecoming his first year as a Crow.  What led Anthony to join Alpha Chi Rho is the exoteric motto: “Be Men” which are words he has lived by since he pledged the Fraternity.  Every fall, Anthony volunteers coaching youth flag football and serving as a referee for league games for 9-11 year-olds. He looks forward to also coaching wrestling this winter.

 

JOSEPH NOLASCO, ΦΒΧ ‘03

Joe was born on the West coast in Glendale, California, but has lived most of his life on the East coast in the Northern Virginia area. He currently resides in Centreville, Virginia with his beautiful wife Stephanie, energetic son Joey, and sassy daughter Annie. They are expecting their third child early October 2017. He is a Business Systems & Data Analyst for a company specializing in Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs), Work-Life Programs, Wellness Services and Employee Benefits in the Health, Wellness and Fitness industry.

Joe has an Associate in Arts and Science Degree with a major in Business Administration and a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree with a major in Finance. He was Fundraising Chairman for the Phi Beta Chi Chapter at Radford University where he raised notable funds working closely with Postulants. After transferring to Marymount University to be part of the lacrosse team, he was selected to be on the All-Academic Team as a Capital Athletic Conference Scholar Athlete. As a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps, he was a Primary Marksman Instructor and Marksmanship Coach. His military service and training makes him an expert in the Fundamentals of Marine Corps Leadership.

Joseph loves Alpha Chi Rho because of the experiences and time he shares with Brothers. He holds the Fraternity’s Mission and Landmarks in the highest regards due to the way in which one’s life can be positively influenced. Furthering his involvement in the Fraternity as a Crow Coach gets him Phired Up!

 

ADAM POLLACK, ΜΧΦ ‘12

Adam received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science with a concentration in Public Law and and second major in Sociology with a minor in Business. He is currently pursuing his Masters of Public Administration with a concentration in Financial Management and Public Economics. Adam currently works as a Health Program Administrator for the New York State Department of Health.  He has 4 years of full-time experience in government health care administration and management as well as hospital emergency room experience in patient finances and demographics.Adam recently proposed to his now fiancé, Regina, a member of Alpha Omicron Pi, while at the 2017 National Convention in Orlando.

Born in Rhinebeck New York, Adam served his Chapter at SUNY-Albany as Secretary, Ritual Officer, Programming Chair, Postulant Educator, Vice President and President.  He was also involved in the all-Greek Council and Student Association while at Albany.  Adam’s love of Alpha Chi Rho comes from the Fraternity’s emphasis of always having one foot forward, looking into the future and tackling problems head-on through the use of problem-solving that is rarely found in most organizations. Being a Crow Coach has him “Phired Up” to fuel the future!

 

JAMES REARDON, ΣΤΦ ‘08

James has a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from SUNY Plattsburgh as well as additional  graduate coursework in Counseling and Leadership Development.  He was born and raised in Rhinebeck New York and currently serves as the Deputy Director of Agency Operations for Astor Services for Children & Families – a Behavioral Health Non-Profit serving the Hudson Valley and Bronx County, NY.  James enjoys watching and playing sports, traveling, hiking with my 10 year old German Shepherd mix (who grew up in the Fraternity House!) and hanging out with friends from high school and college.

While at Plattsburgh, James served his Chapter as President, Vice President and House Manager and was elected as Vice President of Recruitment of the Interfraternity Council after serving one year as a chapter delegate. He had the unique opportunity to work as a Student Assistant in the Center for Fraternity & Sorority Life at SUNY Plattsburgh, where he assisted the Director in the facilitation of various Leadership & Organizational Development programming, workshops and seminars in addition to providing oversight of day-to-day operations of the Chapter accreditation system.   He says that joining Alpha Chi Rho brought out the best in him personally and professionally, bringing purpose and meaning to his life and work. James looks forward to providing the most fulfilling experience possible for current undergraduate chapters.

 

BRIAN SCHMIDT, ΦΚ ‘10

Brian earned his Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering, with a minor in Business Management from the University of Illinois. He completed his Master of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering, with concentrations in Entrepreneurial Management and Systems Engineering, this spring. Those degrees have helped Brian through his journey to become the Manager of the Manufacturing, Quality, and Test Engineers for The Morey Corporation’s Automotive Segment.

As an undergraduate, Brian served the Phi Kappa Chapter as the Steward (kitchen/meals), House Manager, and a two-term President. He served on the National Council as an undergraduate board member. Outside of AXP, I participated in the Hoeft Technology & Management Program, the racquetball club, and worked part time in automotive R&D for State Farm. After graduation, Brian became the Vice President of Phi Kappa’s Building Association and as their delegate to the University of Illinois coalition of fraternity alumni boards for several years.  His fraternal accolades include Advisor of the Year to the University of Illinois Interfraternity System and the Paul K Addams and Richard V. Olsen Scholarships from the AXP Educational Foundation. One of the things Brian loves most about Alpha Chi Rho is that it gave him a home away from home filled with positive influences. He looks forward to giving back and spreading that positive impact to the Chapters he will be mentoring as a Crow Coach!

 

MONTGOMERY THOMAS, ΦΙΧ ‘10

Monty holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology with a concentration in Criminal Justice and a double minor in Anthropology and Legal Studies from Central Michigan University. He also holds a Master of Education degree in School Counseling from Providence College.  While at Central Michigan, Monty served as Postulant Educator and Alumni Relations chairman for the Phi Iota Chi Chapter. He also was a Resident Assistant and practice player for the Women’s Basketball team.

Aside from being a Crow Coach, Monty is one of the Coordinators for the Intercultural Center at Brandeis University. He has always loved how Alpha Chi Rho prepares young men to “Be Men” in a small, but powerful way. He is excited to be Phired Up being Crow Coach and helping Alpha Chi Rho Grow Crow!  Originally from Pittsburgh, Monty resides in the Greater Boston area.

 

BRIAN TIERNEY, ΑΦΔ ‘14

Brian is a graduate of Queens College in New Yorkand charter member of the Alpha Phi Delta Chapter. Brian grew up in Bayside, Queens and befriended some AXP brothers at the Queens College Colony his first year on campus. The brothers not only improved his college experience but gave him a second family. During his time as an undergraduate, he was Philanthropy Chair, Fundraising Chair, Risk Management Chair and Treasurer of the Chapter.

After graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in history and a minor in sociology, Brian began working at Applebee’s as a server to make some extra money while figuring out his career path. A few short weeks later Brian fell in love with the company and the food service industry and was quickly promoted to Neighborhood Expert (trainer position) and simultaneously promoted to Supervisor. After spending a year and a half supervising at different Applebee’s throughout Queens, Brian was promoted once again, this time to manager at the Queens Center Mall Applebee’s. He currently resides in East Meadow, NY. He is excited to start his new endeavor as a CROW Coach with chance to help grow the fraternity that has helped him grow himself. #GrowCrow

 

MITCHEL TORRENCE, ΑΦΖ ‘16

Originally from St. Louis, Missouri, Mitch grew up in the Chicagoland area before attending Seton Hall University where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science.  While at Seton Hall, Mitch was a Founding Brother of the Alpha Phi Zeta Chapter, joining in the Spring of 2014. As a brother Mitch served as Chapter President and Postulant Educator and represented his Chapter at the Undergraduate Interfraternity Institute. During his tenure, Alpha Phi Zeta was consistently recognized as having the highest GPA among fraternities at Seton Hall and was recognized by the National Fraternity for their community service work.  Mitch was recognized by Seton Hall Greek Leadership receiving the Greek Life Impact Award.

Currently, Mitch is a rising 2nd year law student at the University of Richmond School of Law. Ultimately, Mitch hopes to practice in the field of Intellectual Property litigation after he graduates in May 2019.  During the year Mitch splits his time between Richmond, his hometown Chicago, and traveling with his girlfriend Mari(who was Alpha Phi Zeta’s first Chapter Sweetheart). Mitch truly believes that, when done correctly, Brotherhood is the most rewarding of all endeavors. Mitch is incredibly excited to work with Undergraduate Brothers to help them maximize their chapters’ and their own potential. Most of all, Mitch is excited to Grow Crow!

 

FRANK ULRICH, ΦΟΧ ‘88

Frank is originally from Brooklyn, NY and raised on Long Island. A child of two hard working parents where “Thank you”, “Please” were instilled at an early age and “hard work” was required to be a productive part of the family. His education consists of a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Fairleigh Dickinson University as well as an MBA – Information Systems from Hofstra University. His corporate career consists of Business Development and other Sales activities for Fortune 50, 100 and 500 firms in the Information Technology Business Sector. He has been the recipient of several Sales Awards and described as an outstanding professional in the business of information & technology. He has strong academic knowledge of Wall Street Finance.

Frank is now pursuing some entrepreneurial/Business efforts in Las Vegas. He is an ardent volunteer and “dog” lover. His commitment to his family, career and Alpha Chi Rho have never been stronger and is truly excited to assist with the growth and guidance as this new chapter in our Brotherly history unfolds. I never anticipated the power of being a fraternity brother. The essence of life is to help others and he cannot think of a better way to do that but with Alpha Chi Rho, its Chapters and those looking to be a part of our fraternal effort.

He presently lives in Las Vegas, Nevada where he resides with his father and extended family.
