National Constitution Amendments
Article IV, Section 3: Sessions
Current Text: The National Convention shall hold one regular session every other year at such time and place as the National Council may determine.
Proposed Amendment: The National Convention shall hold one regular in-person or virtual session every other year at such time and place as the National Council may determine.
Article V, Section 2: Sessions (1)
Current Text: The National Council shall hold at least three regular sessions each year at such time and place as it may determine, provided that one regular session shall be held in conjunction with the National Convention.
Proposed Amendment: The National Council shall hold at least three regular sessions each year at such time and place as it may determine, provided that one regular session shall be held in conjunction with the National Convention or Leadership / Scholarship Institute.
Article V, Section 2: Sessions (2)
Current Text: A special session of the National Council, including one conducted by telephone , may be called by the Secretary upon his own motion, upon the request of the National President, or upon the request of any three members of the National Council.
Proposed Amendment: A special session of the National Council, including one conducted virtually, may be called by the Secretary upon his own motion, upon the request of the National President, or upon the request of any three members of the National Council.
Article V, Section 2: Sessions (3)
Current Text: Actions of a special session conducted by telephone shall be reported by the National Secretary at the next regular session.
Proposed Amendment: Actions of a special session conducted virtually shall be reported by the National Secretary at the next regular session.
Article V, Section 5: Jurisdiction over Chapters
Current Text: N/A
Proposed Amendment: The National Council shall designate and authorize all financial payments and transactions to be conducted through an agreed upon financial collection platform (currently GreekBill/Re:Members). The National Council shall be authorized to potentially discipline any Chapter/Colony not utilizing the financial collection platform for invoicing and collecting.
Article V, Section 6: Jurisdiction over Brothers
Current Text: N/A
Proposed Amendment: The National Council shall be authorized to suspend, expel or seek disciplinary action for any Brother that is not conducting proper financial practices for managing the Chapter’s financial payments and transactions.
Article VI, Section 3: National Secretary
Current Text: He shall visit each Resident Chapter of the Fraternity at least once a year for an official visit .
Proposed Amendment: He, or another authorized member of the National Staff, shall conduct an official assessment of each Resident Chapter of the Fraternity at least once every academic year.
National Bylaw Amendments to be Voted on at the 108th National Convention
Article III, Section 1: Notification of Postulancy and Initiation
Current Text: The Chapter Correspondent of each Resident Chapter shall notify the National Secretary, by mail, immediately after a candidate for admission has been pledged giving his name, home address and phone number, date of graduation and probable date of initiation.
Proposed Amendment: The Chapter president, secretary or Postulant educator of each Resident Chapter shall notify the National Secretary, electronically, immediately after a candidate for admission has been pledged giving his name, home address and phone number, date of graduation and probable date of initiation.
Article III, Section 4: Examination Of Postulants
Current Text: The answers submitted by the Postulant shall be marked by the Ritual Officer, and a grade of at least 75% must be attained by the Postulant before his initiation.
Proposed Amendment: The answers submitted by the Postulant shall be marked by the Ritual Officer, and a grade of at least 80% must be attained by the Postulant before his initiation.
Article V, Section 1: The Executive Council and Business Management
Current Text: No Brother may serve as a member of the Executive Council unless he maintains a cumulative GPA of a 2.50 (on a 4.0 scale) or its equivalent.
Proposed Amendment: No Brother may serve as a member of the Executive Council unless he maintains a cumulative GPA of a 2.90 (on a 4.0 scale) or its equivalent.
Article VIII, Section 8: The Convention Attendance Cup
Current Text: The Convention Attendance Cup shall be awarded to the Phi, which has the largest attendance of its Brothers at the Regular Session of the National Convention, such attendance being determined from the official register of the National Convention.
Proposed Amendment: The Convention Attendance Cup shall be awarded to the Phi that has the largest attendance of its Brothers at the Regular in-person Session of the National Convention, such attendance being determined from the official register of the National Convention.
Article VIII, Section 9: Nomination of Candidates
Current Text: With the understanding that the National Convention shall continue to commence in August of any given calendar year, the Committee shall approach, solicit and/or accept the nominations of interested parties, at any time, but shall propose to the National Secretary no later than June 1st preceding the upcoming Convention, a report of the proposed candidates/nominees for available elected positions.
Proposed Amendment: With the understanding that the National Convention shall continue to commence every other year, the Committee shall approach, solicit and/or accept the nominations of interested parties, at any time, but shall propose to the National Secretary no later than forty-five days (45) proceeding the upcoming Convention, a report of the proposed candidates/nominees for available elected positions.
Article IX, Section 7: Alternate National Councilors
Current Text: The delegates present at each session of the National Convention shall elect at the appropriate time on the Convention floor, two (2), Alternate representatives to the National Council from the Resident Brothers in attendance at the Convention.

Article X, Section 3: Graduate Dues
Current Text: This section of the Bylaws was deleted by amendment of the National Convention and act of the National Council.
Proposed Amendment: Graduate Dues shall be solicited from Graduate Brothers on a basis determined by the National Council. The Graduate Dues will be marked as general income for the National Fraternity.
Article XII, Section 2: THE GARNET AND WHITE
Current Text: It shall be issued four times per year by the National Editor.
Proposed Amendment: It shall be issued on a regular cadence by the National Editor.
Article XIII, Section 4: Trials By National Council
Current Text: Upon taking of such appeal, the National Secretary shall transmit the entire record in the case to the Committee on Discipline of the National Convention.
Proposed Amendment: Upon taking of such appeal, the National Secretary shall transmit the entire record in the case to the National Discipline Committee which will then make recommendations at the next National Convention.
Article XIII, Section 5: Trials by the National Convention (paragraph a)
Current Text: Proceedings which are desirable to have tried by National Convention must be initiated in the same manner as Article XIV, Section 4, subsection a, which complaints shall be filed with the National Secretary and referred by him to the Committee on Discipline of the National Convention.
Proposed Amendment: Proceedings which are desirable to have tried by National Convention must be initiated in the same manner as Article XIV, Section 4, subsection a, which complaints shall be filed with the National Secretary and referred by him to the National Discipline Committee, which will then present recommendations at the next scheduled National Convention.
Article XIII, Section 5: Trials by the National Convention (paragraph b)
Current Text: All appeals or complaints to be heard or tried by the National Convention shall be referred to its Committee on Discipline.
Proposed Amendment: All appeals or complaints to be heard or tried by the National Convention shall be referred to the National Discipline Committee.
