“Day of Service”

In 2019, Alpha Chi Rho launched their partnership with Habitat for Humanity at the local level with the Chapters and Colonies being the ‘boots on the ground’. However, this volunteer work shifted when the COVID-19 pandemic spread, with less Chapters/Colonies being able to hold in-person events.

This will be the “Day” that changes that. Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, philanthropic organizations across the country have been needing more volunteers now more than ever. However, we will need more than a day to complete this challenge.

This year for Convention, we will be completing the Day of Service in the span of a month. From April 12, 2021 to May 16, 2021 Chapters/Colonies will be participating in a Day of Service to their local Habitat for Humanity ReStore. There will be some requirements for each Chapter/Colony to complete:

  • Each Chapter/Colony must complete at least one “Day of Service” at their Local Habitat for Humanity ReStore. Chapters/Colonies can hold more than one throughout the month-long time frame.
  • During the service event, the Community Service / Philanthropy chair must photograph and document all of the help provided for hours and public relations.
  • Hours and some photos must be submitted to the National Fraternity by May 23, 2021.
  • The Chapter/Colony is responsible for coordination of the event, showing up on time, actively engaging at the ReStore, etc. National Staff will coordinate initial contact for each Chapter/Colony.
  • Fundraising for a donation to the ReStore is not directly required, but highly encouraged.
At Convention, we will present photos of not only Day of Service activities but also every event / fundraiser that the Chapter/Colony has done in the last two years for Habitat for Humanity. After Convention, the “Day of Service” will continue for every summer National event. During the Day, each Chapter/Colony will volunteer at their local ReStore providing service and help to whatever they need while delegates volunteer in the local area of the Convention or InDeed Institute.

If you have any questions, please reach out to the National office at 732-869-1895.
