Today, Alpha Chi Rho National Council announced the closure of its Phi Lambda Chapter at Pennsylvania State University, effective immediately. Over the past 10 months, the national Fraternity has worked with the undergraduate Chapter to address health and safety concerns with the goal of regaining recognition from the Interfraternity Council and University. Through this, we have come to the decision that closing the Chapter creates the best opportunity for long-term success at Penn State.

The Phi Lambda Chapter has a more than 100-year history at Penn State, and we are committed to returning to the Greek community in the future as a partner to the University and our fellow fraternities and sororities.

Alpha Chi Rho is a national men’s collegiate fraternity whose purpose is to enhance the lifelong intellectual, moral and social development of our members. Through our Landmarks and Principles, the Fraternity aims to provide an experience that “Cultivates Men of Word and Deed.” Character, Honor and Integrity are attributes that are deeply enhanced by the leadership opportunities, resources and experiences the organization provides its members.
