SUMMARY:Love\, Mom & Dad: Turning tragedy into progress
DESCRIPTION:Brothers\, \nThe month of September is Hazing Prevention Month. The North American Interfraternity Conference is sponsoring a free event for all members and advisors on Sunday September 20\, 2020 at 7PM EST. You are highly encouraged to attend as it will help with your Fraternity and Institution accreditation. \nIf you have any questions\, please reach out to axpheadquarters@alphachirho.org. \nCollege students\, you are invited to:\n\nLove\, Mom & Dad:\nTurning tragedy into progress\nSunday\, September 20\, 7:00 p.m. Eastern\n(Zoom & Facebook Live)\n\nThe Anti-Hazing Coalition will host a live nationwide presentation and discussion to kick off  HazingPrevention.Org’s National Hazing Prevention Week on Sunday\, September 20 at 7 p.m. Eastern.\n\nAs many campuses have moved away from in-person experiences this fall\, the AHC wants to ensure students receive hazing prevention education. The AHC parents will present a program streamed live on social media to share their sons’ stories and educate current students about hazing prevention. The program will include Q&A with the parents.\n\nThese families each suffered unimaginable loss as a result of fraternity hazing. They are here to share their stories and to challenge ALL fraternity/sorority members to take up the fight to end hazing now. If we are not actively part of solving this problem\, then we are responsible for its continued persistence. Whether you’ve been hazed\, know that hazing is happening on your campus\, or even if you’ve hazed one of your members in the past\, we must all actively take part in this solving this problem so that no family has to endure this kind of tragedy. Let’s be the generation of fraternity and sorority members who end hazing once and for all.\n\nParents currently scheduled to participate include:\n\n\nDeb Debrick\, her son Dalton died after a hazing incident at Texas Tech University\nSteve and Rae Ann Gruver\, their son Max died after a hazing incident at Louisiana State University\nLianne Kowiak\, her son Harrison died after a hazing incident at Lenoir-Rhyne University\nJim and Evelyn Piazza\, their son Tim died after a hazing incident at Penn State University\nKathleen Wiant\, her son Collin died after a hazing incident at Ohio University\n\n\n\nTHIS IS A FREE VIRTUAL EVENT AND OPEN TO ALL STUDENTS/ADVISORS/COACHES.

SUMMARY:DignityU: Building Up or Tearing Down by Mike Dilbeck
DESCRIPTION:IFC and Chapter Officers are encouraged to attend a free presentation of\n\nDignityU: Building Up or Tearing Down\nby Mike Dilbeck\n\nmade possible thanks to the gracious support of Sigma Nu Fraternity.\n\nThis is the first in a series of programming offered by the NIC Diversity\, Equity & Inclusion Task Force.\n\nChoose one of two sessions:\nSeptember 30 at 7:00 p.m. EST\nOctober 1 at 7:00 p.m. EST\n(Due to licensing\, this will not be recorded.)\n\n(After logging into FSCentral to register\, select from events at the top.)\n\nThe primary objective of DignityU is to identify and distinguish the essential elements of dignity\, as distinguished by Dr. Donna Hicks\, internationally renowned authority on dignity and expert consultant to DignityU. There is also a call to look in to how dignity impacts a person’s own thoughts and actions\, in both their lives and in their respective organizations. More importantly\, a key component will be to demonstrate ways to intervene against the personal violations of someone’s dignity\, while recognizing the difference made by respecting the dignity in others.\n\nAs a filmmaker and video producer for over 30 years\, Mike produced a film in 2008 that would change the course of his career — and his life. RESPONSE ABILITY: A Call for Courageous Leadership\, the award-winning educational program on bystander intervention for 40 organizations and over 300 college campuses\, immediately became a distinct and special project. This one struck a chord. This one caused a demand. This one sparked a movement.\n\nAfter 12 years of leading this movement for bystander empowerment — and personally surviving two types of cancer — Mike launched DignityU in 2018. Here\, Mike educates and empowers us all to make the choice in every interaction to build someone up rather than tear them down. To honor dignity — our inherent birthright to feel valuable and worthy.\n\nLearning Outcomes:\n\nAs a result of attending the program\, students will learn:\n\n\nHow to define the term “dignity.”\nHow to describe how dignity impacts their daily thoughts and actions.\nHow to distinguish the essential elements of dignity\nHow to identify ways the elements of dignity are violated. How to recognize the difference they can make for others by honoring their dignity
