SUMMARY:106th National Convention
DESCRIPTION:Due to COVID-19\, the National Fraternity will be holding the 106th National Convention in a virtual format. The Convention will be June 1 – 5\, 2021. The business meeting will be conducted on June 4 and 5\, 2021. A full schedule can be found below. \n  \nRegistration\nRegistration is now closed. \nIf you have any questions\, please contact the National Headquarters Monday through Friday between 9 am – 4 pm at 732-869-1895 or via email at hq@alphachirho.org. \n  \n“Day of Service”\nIn 2019\, Alpha Chi Rho launched their partnership with Habitat for Humanity at the local level with the Chapters and Colonies being the ‘boots on the ground’. However\, this volunteer work shifted when the COVID-19 pandemic spread\, with less Chapters/Colonies being able to hold in-person events. \nThis will be the “Day” that changes that. Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic\, philanthropic organizations across the country have been needing more volunteers now more than ever. However\, we will need more than a day to complete this challenge. \nThis year for Convention\, we will be completing the Day of Service in the span of a month. From April 12\, 2021 to May 16\, 2021 Chapters/Colonies will be participating in a Day of Service to their local Habitat for Humanity ReStore. There will be some requirements for each Chapter/Colony to complete: \n\nEach Chapter/Colony must complete at least one “Day of Service” at their Local Habitat for Humanity ReStore. Chapters/Colonies can hold more than one throughout the month-long time frame.\nDuring the service event\, the Community Service / Philanthropy chair must photograph and document all of the help provided for hours and public relations.\nHours and some photos must be submitted to the National Fraternity by May 23\, 2021.\nThe Chapter/Colony is responsible for coordination of the event\, showing up on time\, actively engaging at the ReStore\, etc. National Staff will coordinate initial contact for each Chapter/Colony.\nFundraising for a donation to the ReStore is not directly required\, but highly encouraged.\n\nAt Convention\, we will present photos of not only Day of Service activities but also every event / fundraiser that the Chapter/Colony has done in the last two years for Habitat for Humanity. After Convention\, the “Day of Service” will continue for every summer National event. During the Day\, each Chapter/Colony will volunteer at their local ReStore providing service and help to whatever they need while delegates volunteer in the local area of the Convention or InDeed Institute.\n\nIf you have any questions\, please reach out to the National office at 732-869-1895. \n  \nResident Councillor Nominations Open\nIn preparation for the 106th National Convention\, the nomination of two Resident Councillors and two alternate Resident Councillors for 2021-2022 is beginning in a virtual format. In order to be elected to the Resident Councillor position\, the nominee must attend the Convention. If the nominee is not a delegate already\, he may register at the link above. \nEach resident Chapter will have two votes for the candidates during the Business Meeting on June 4 – 5\, 2021. \nAll resident (undergraduate) members in good standing (meaning they are Initiated and have paid their National Initiation Fee) are able to run for the position. To view the complete position description\, click here. \nNominations close Friday June 4\, 2021. Nominate a Brother here. \nPlease direct any questions to the National Office by calling 732-869-1895 or via email at hq@alphachirho.org. \n  \n\nNominations Open for National President\, Vice President\, Graduate Councillor\nAre you a Brother interested in joining the National Council? Nominations are open for National President\, Vice President\, and Graduate Councillor! \nNominations will close on June 4\, 2021 and the election will occur during the Business Meeting on June 5\, 2021. If you are interested in running\, please contact the National office via email at axpheadquarters@alphachirho.org. \nNational President and Vice President serve a term of two (2) years. Graduate Councillors serve a term of four (4) years. \nNominations close Friday June 4\, 2021. Nominate a Brother by contacting the National Office by calling 732-869-1895 or via email at hq@alphachirho.org. \n\n  \n\nGraduate Chapter Meetings / Happy Hours\nOn Wednesday and Thursday of Convention\, Graduate Chapters will be able to host private (audience selected by the Graduate Chapter) Happy Hour / Chapter Meeting. There are four slots available each night. An additional fee of $250 is associated with hosting this event. Part of the fee provides a unique trinket to all attendees\, which is designed with the National Staff. To select a time and begin the process\, please contact the National Office at 732-869-1895 or via email at hq@alphachirho.org. \n\n  \nSCHEDULE AT A GLANCE\nAll times are EDT. \n\n\n\nTuesday\, June 1\, 2021\n\n\n\n\nStart Time\nSession Title\nAudience \n\n\n4:00 PM\nEducation Session: “Alpha Beta Gamma: Where’s Your Chapter in Terms of Motivation”\, Dave Westol\nResidents\n\n\n6:30 PM\nOpening Remarks\nGraduates and Residents\n\n\n7:00 PM\nOpening Keynote: “2020-2021—Have We Found A New\nTrail or Lost Our Way?”\, Dave Westol\nGraduates and Residents\n\n\n8:30 PM\nOpening Reception\nGraduates and Residents\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWednesday\, June 2\, 2021\n\n\n\n\nStart Time\nSession Title\nAudience \n\n\n2:00 PM\nChapter Assessments with Dave Westol (45 minutes each)\nResidents\n\n\n2:00 PM\nResident Brother Ed Block #1: Navigating the Transition to Normalcy\nAs your campus transitions back to in-person classes and events\, you will have to juggle multiple members’ interests while handling your own. SUMMARY:DignityU: Building Up or Tearing Down by Mike Dilbeck
DESCRIPTION:IFC and Chapter Officers are encouraged to attend a free presentation of\n\nDignityU: Building Up or Tearing Down\nby Mike Dilbeck\n\nmade possible thanks to the gracious support of Sigma Nu Fraternity.\n\nThis is the first in a series of programming offered by the NIC Diversity\, Equity & Inclusion Task Force.\n\nChoose one of two sessions:\nSeptember 30 at 7:00 p.m. EST\nOctober 1 at 7:00 p.m. EST\n(Due to licensing\, this will not be recorded.)\n\n(After logging into FSCentral to register\, select from events at the top.)\n\nThe primary objective of DignityU is to identify and distinguish the essential elements of dignity\, as distinguished by Dr. Donna Hicks\, internationally renowned authority on dignity and expert consultant to DignityU. There is also a call to look in to how dignity impacts a person’s own thoughts and actions\, in both their lives and in their respective organizations. More importantly\, a key component will be to demonstrate ways to intervene against the personal violations of someone’s dignity\, while recognizing the difference made by respecting the dignity in others.\n\nAs a filmmaker and video producer for over 30 years\, Mike produced a film in 2008 that would change the course of his career — and his life. RESPONSE ABILITY: A Call for Courageous Leadership\, the award-winning educational program on bystander intervention for 40 organizations and over 300 college campuses\, immediately became a distinct and special project. This one struck a chord. This one caused a demand. This one sparked a movement.\n\nAfter 12 years of leading this movement for bystander empowerment — and personally surviving two types of cancer — Mike launched DignityU in 2018. Here\, Mike educates and empowers us all to make the choice in every interaction to build someone up rather than tear them down. To honor dignity — our inherent birthright to feel valuable and worthy.\n\nLearning Outcomes:\n\nAs a result of attending the program\, students will learn:\n\n\nHow to define the term “dignity.”\nHow to describe how dignity impacts their daily thoughts and actions.\nHow to distinguish the essential elements of dignity\nHow to identify ways the elements of dignity are violated. How to recognize the difference they can make for others by honoring their dignity

SUMMARY:Love\, Mom & Dad: Turning tragedy into progress
DESCRIPTION:Brothers\, \nThe month of September is Hazing Prevention Month. The North American Interfraternity Conference is sponsoring a free event for all members and advisors on Sunday September 20\, 2020 at 7PM EST. You are highly encouraged to attend as it will help with your Fraternity and Institution accreditation. \nIf you have any questions\, please reach out to axpheadquarters@alphachirho.org. \nCollege students\, you are invited to:\n\nLove\, Mom & Dad:\nTurning tragedy into progress\nSunday\, September 20\, 7:00 p.m. Eastern\n(Zoom & Facebook Live)\n\nThe Anti-Hazing Coalition will host a live nationwide presentation and discussion to kick off  HazingPrevention.Org’s National Hazing Prevention Week on Sunday\, September 20 at 7 p.m. Eastern.\n\nAs many campuses have moved away from in-person experiences this fall\, the AHC wants to ensure students receive hazing prevention education. The AHC parents will present a program streamed live on social media to share their sons’ stories and educate current students about hazing prevention. The program will include Q&A with the parents.\n\nThese families each suffered unimaginable loss as a result of fraternity hazing. They are here to share their stories and to challenge ALL fraternity/sorority members to take up the fight to end hazing now. If we are not actively part of solving this problem\, then we are responsible for its continued persistence. Whether you’ve been hazed\, know that hazing is happening on your campus\, or even if you’ve hazed one of your members in the past\, we must all actively take part in this solving this problem so that no family has to endure this kind of tragedy. Let’s be the generation of fraternity and sorority members who end hazing once and for all.\n\nParents currently scheduled to participate include:\n\n\nDeb Debrick\, her son Dalton died after a hazing incident at Texas Tech University\nSteve and Rae Ann Gruver\, their son Max died after a hazing incident at Louisiana State University\nLianne Kowiak\, her son Harrison died after a hazing incident at Lenoir-Rhyne University\nJim and Evelyn Piazza\, their son Tim died after a hazing incident at Penn State University\nKathleen Wiant\, her son Collin died after a hazing incident at Ohio University\n\n\n\nTHIS IS A FREE VIRTUAL EVENT AND OPEN TO ALL STUDENTS/ADVISORS/COACHES.
